Early Life and Career

Born in Cleveland, Ohio, in 1964, Mark Green grew up in a family that emphasized education and public service. He attended Vanderbilt University, where he studied history and political science, and later earned his law degree from the University of Tennessee.

After graduating from law school, Green worked as an attorney in the private sector. He also served as a member of the Tennessee House of Representatives from 2007 to 2011.

Congressional Elections

In 2015, Green ran for the Republican nomination for the United States Congress in Tennessee's 7th congressional district.

He won the nomination and went on to win the general election, becoming the first Republican to represent the district since 1875.

Tenure in Congress

Green has served in the U.S. House of Representatives since 2017.

He is a member of the House Armed Services Committee and the House Committee on Small Business.

Green has been a vocal supporter of President Donald Trump and his policies.

Controversies

In February 2020, Green was accused of soliciting and kissing a female reporter without her consent. He has denied these allegations.

The House Ethics Committee is investigating the allegations, and Green has stepped down as a member of the House Armed Services Committee pending the outcome of the investigation.
