Andreas Pereira was never able to establish himself in the United first team
Andreas Pereira has opened up about his departure from Manchester United and revealed that there were things he regretted from his time at the club.
The Brazilian midfielder was sold to Fulham in the summer of 2021 after failing to make a breakthrough into the United first team.
Speaking to The Athletic, Pereira admitted that he had some regrets about his time at Old Trafford.
“I think I could have done more,” he said. “I could have worked harder, I could have been more consistent, I could have done more in training, I could have done more in games.
“But I think I also had some bad luck. I think I was in a team that was not very good at the time and I think I was also in a position where I was not playing regularly.
“I think if I had been playing regularly, I would have been able to show more of what I can do.”
Pereira also revealed that he had spoken to United manager Erik ten Hag before he left the club.
“He told me that he wanted me to stay,” Pereira said. “He said that he believed in me and that he thought I could be a good player for him.
“But I think I had made up my mind by that point. I think I needed a fresh start.”
Pereira has made a good start to his career at Fulham, scoring one goal in four appearances.
He will be hoping to continue his good form and help Fulham avoid relegation from the Premier League.
