Early Life and Education

Uddhav Bal Thackeray was born on 27th July, 1960 in Mumbai, Maharashtra, India. He is the son of the late Bal Thackeray, the founder of the Shiv Sena party.

Thackeray completed his schooling from Balmohan Vidyamandir, Dadar, Mumbai, and earned a degree in photography from Sir J. J. Institute of Applied Art.

Political Career

Thackeray entered politics in 1990 and joined the Shiv Sena party. He became the party president in 2006, after the demise of his father.

In 2019, Thackeray led the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) alliance to victory in the Maharashtra Assembly elections.

Chief Ministership

Thackeray became the 19th Chief Minister of Maharashtra on 28th November, 2019.

He resigned from the post on 29th June, 2022, following a rebellion within the Shiv Sena party.

Personal Life

Thackeray is married to Rashmi Thackeray and they have two sons, Aditya and Tejas.

He is an avid photographer and has published several books of his work.

Thackeray is a controversial figure in Indian politics.

He is known for his strong Hindutva ideology and his support for Marathi nationalism.
