Intel Extends Warranty for CPUs Affected by Crashing Issue

24 CPUs Now Covered for Two Additional Years

In a move that will likely provide relief to PC owners, Intel has announced that it is extending the warranty for 24 CPUs that have been affected by a crashing issue. The move comes after reports that a significant number of the company's latest 14th Gen Raptor Lake Refresh chips have been experiencing crashes.

Issue Impacting Mobile and Desktop CPUs

Intel has acknowledged that the crashing issue affects both mobile and desktop CPUs. For mobile CPUs, the problem is not related to the same bug that affects desktop chips. The company has not yet provided specific details about the cause of the mobile CPU crashes.

For desktop CPUs, Intel has confirmed that the crashing issue impacts all 65W 13th and 14th-gen processors. The company has released a list of the affected CPUs, which includes popular models such as the Intel Core i9-13900K.

The extended warranty will provide customers with two additional years of coverage beyond the standard warranty period. This means that affected CPUs will now be covered for a total of three years from the date of purchase.

Intel has urged PC makers to offer extended warranties for systems using affected CPUs. The company is also working with its partners to address the crashing issue as quickly as possible.
