After decades of speculation, it's finally official: Harrison Ford is back as Han Solo in the upcoming Star Wars sequel, "Star Wars: The Force Awakens." Ford made his film debut in 1966 and spent most of the first ten years of his career in small supporting roles before rising to fame with the 1977 release of "Star Wars: A New Hope." He went on to reprise the role of Han Solo in two sequels, "The Empire Strikes Back" (1980) and "Return of the Jedi" (1983).

Ford initially resisted returning to the franchise, but director JJ Abrams eventually convinced him to come on board. In an exclusive interview with Entertainment Weekly, Abrams explains how he lured Ford back to the iconic role.

"I knew that Harrison was hesitant to return to the 'Star Wars' universe," Abrams said. "But I also knew that he loved the character of Han Solo. So I told him that I wanted to give him a story that would be worthy of his return."

Abrams also revealed that Ford had input on the development of the character, particularly in the way he wanted to see Han's relationship with Leia (Carrie Fisher) evolve.

"Harrison was very passionate about exploring Han and Leia's relationship," Abrams said. "He wanted to see them as a couple who had been through a lot together, but who still had a lot of love for each other."

Fans of the franchise will undoubtedly be thrilled to see Harrison Ford back in action as Han Solo. The actor brings a unique charisma and wit to the role, and his return is sure to be one of the highlights of the upcoming film.
