Environment Canada has just released the latest weather statistics, and they paint a picture of extremes across the country. From a frigid -29 C F at Qikiqtarjuaq Airport in Nunavut to a scorching 46.1 C F in Lytton, British Columbia, the data shows that Canada's weather is anything but predictable.

The extreme cold in Qikiqtarjuaq is not unusual for the Arctic, but it is a reminder of the harsh conditions that people living in the North face on a daily basis. The extreme heat in Lytton, on the other hand, is a sign of the changing climate. Lytton is located in the Fraser Canyon, which is known for its hot summers. However, the temperature in Lytton on June 29, 2021, was the highest ever recorded in Canada.

The extreme weather conditions in Canada are a reminder that we need to be prepared for anything. While we cannot control the weather, we can take steps to protect ourselves from its extremes.
