Early Years and Playing Career
Roberto De Zerbi was born on June 6, 1979, in Brescia, Italy. His football journey began as a midfielder, initially playing for local clubs before joining AC Milan in 1999.
Coaching Career
After retiring from playing, De Zerbi embarked on a coaching career. He initially worked with youth teams before taking over as manager of Foggia in Serie C in 2014. His impressive performances there earned him the attention of Sassuolo, whom he guided to an eighth-place finish in Serie A in 2017/18.
Shakhtar Donetsk and Brighton
In 2021, De Zerbi became the manager of Ukrainian giants Shakhtar Donetsk. He led the team to the Ukrainian Premier League title and the Ukrainian Cup, becoming the first Italian manager to win trophies in Ukraine. In September 2022, he joined Brighton & Hove Albion in the English Premier League.
